Rock Your Resolution ™Kids will be held in the NC Music Factory on March 14th 2015 11am-2pm for families and children ages 5-14. This event will feature Zumba® Fitness Instructors licensed in Zumba® Kids and Zumba® Kids Jr, and kids Dance Fitness, in a set of age appropriate routines to get their little hearts pumping and their bodies moving. The event will also feature dance routines by some of the area’s best dance schools, a Wii challenge, healthy eating appetizer and games for the family to get everyone moving.
Fitness is the driver for Rock Your Resolution and because of the importance of exercise and movement to a healthy lifestyle it is vital to increase focus on fitness for families with Rock Your Resolution Kids. We want to show you the importance of healthy lifestyle choices for our kids and families.

The World Health Organization and the American Heart association recommends the following to parents of children ages 5-17
• Children and young people aged 5–17 should get at least 60 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity every day.
• Vigorous-intensity activities should be incorporated, including those that strengthen muscle and bone. This can include running, playing games, jumping and turning and DANCING at least 3 times per week.
Are your children moving and playing 60 minutes a day? There are many other things that will call your child’s attention especially as they get older and into their teen years. Making a resolution with your child to get active and remain active throughout the year can be a great first step to ensuring a lifelong love of a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy Kids, Happy Kids.
Another very important initiative for RYR Kids would be to bring attention to and provide solutions for the epidemic of Childhood obesity in America. Did you know about these facts from the CDC that can be found on their website?
• Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years.
• The percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to 18% in 2012
• In 2012, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.
• 8 to 18 year old adolescents spend an average of 7.5 hours a day watching TV, using computers, playing video games and/or using other devices.
Rock Your Resolution Kids is more than just a Saturday event, it’s a fitness Resolution that you can make along with your entire family to get moving. Physical activity has been proven to improve a multitude of great benefits that include increased mental well-being, increased bone density and health, improved grades and learning capacity and so much more. As Physical Education classes are being removed from more school curriculums, parents must increasingly look for ways to get and KEEP their little ones active. The facts above give us all reasons to consider fitness as a part of our daily family lifestyles and this event can jumpstart that for your family. Your children will be lead through simple but fun dance fitness routines that they will have the opportunity to learn before hand and to continue to use long after the event! Rock Your Resolution™ is in its 3rd year of supporting fitness goals and raising funds for local charities. In the past three years we all have successfully raised over $4000 during the first 3 Rock Your Resolution Zumbathon® Events. The RYR team is proud to continue to team with Label Charlotte in the NC Music Factory and Amped4ACure Inc. to use music AND dance to bring awareness to and raise funds for Cancer research, detection and prevention. (source: www.amped4acure.org) Several members of the RYR team have been touched by cancer’s affects and the team is excited and happy to be lending their support and dancing feet to this organization.
