One of the big problems people have with smoothies is that sometimes they just don’t fill you up. It’s easy to start the day with a healthy smoothie, packed full of nutritious vegetables. But if your stomach is rumbling like crazy just a couple of hours later, it can be tough to stick to a healthy diet.
This smoothie is a totally different story – it’s made specifically with the idea of keeping you feeling full and energized until lunchtime in mind. Together oats, Greek yogurt and almonds are packed full of fiber and protein which helps keep hunger pangs away and give you a constant source of energy so you can get through a full busy morning without nodding off or taking an unnecessary trip to the vending machine.
But that’s not the only reason this smoothie is so great – it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare and the recipe contains only one step, so even total kitchen novices can master it!
This recipe makes one strawberry, oat and almond smoothie which is enough to serve one adult for breakfast or as a snack. However, you can easily decrease the ingredients to make a mini smoothie or increase the ingredients to make as many smoothies and you want.
This smoothie will store well in the fridge for several days, so if you’re not much of a morning person and would rather make your breakfast the night before, you totally can.
To prepare this smoothie in advance, follow the recipe below and then cover the glass with a lid, tin foil or plastic wrap. You can then store the smoothie in the fridge for up to three days.
The longer you leave the smoothie to chill, the thicker it will become. So you might need to add a little bit of milk in the morning if the texture is too thick to drink.
- ¼ cup oats (use gluten-free oats if necessary)
- ½ cup frozen strawberries
- 10 almonds
- ¼ cup Greek yogurt
- ¼ cup skimmed milk
- Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend for around 1 minute until all the ingredients have been totally broken down. Pour into a serving glass and enjoy.
