If you’re not really a breakfast person but don’t want to miss out on the most important meal of the day, try drinking smoothies first thing in the morning. Easy to prepare and even easier to consume on busy work mornings, smoothies are the perfect breakfast for those who don’t have time to cook a meal early in the day.

This creamy mango banana smoothie is made using only four simple and wholesome ingredients without any added sugar, providing you with enough natural fuel to get you through the morning without injecting you with added sugars that will just leave you crashing in a few hours time. Whilst the flavors and textures in this smoothie will definitely be at their best when you use fresh fruit, you can substitute frozen banana and mango if that’s all you have.

By using milk and just a small amount of ice, this smoothie turns out incredibly thick and creamy. So much so that you might think you’re enjoying soft-serve ice cream for breakfast instead of a healthy smoothie!

This recipe makes two large smoothies, but the ingredients can easily be scaled up or down to make as many or as few smoothies as you need. Whilst the smoothies are definitely best eaten as soon as you make them, when they’re at their thickest and creamiest, you can easily prepare them in advance and store them inside sealed containers in the refrigerator for up to three days after making them.

The longer the smoothies are left in the refrigerator, the more they’ll separate, so make sure you shake or stir them thoroughly before drinking, to ensure they’re properly mixed together.
